Friends

I don’t like to name drop, (ok maybe a little)  but I will show a few photos of some people I’ve had the privilege of meeting over the years…

Randy with former President Jimmy Carter

I had the honor of meeting President Carter on a couple of occasions.  First, when I was returning from Moscow, following a mission trip.  President Carter was returning from a trip he had taken to Russia, with Habitat for Humanity, at the same time.  I was impressed by his friendliness.  The photo above was taken at a book signing event President Carter did here in St. Louis.  I sang his state’s song, “Georgia on My Mind.”

Here I am with Super Bowl winning coach, Tony Dungy

Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda.  We’ve been good friends for many years!                      (Yes, I said good friend!)

Randy & Sharon with Coach Bill McCartney, founder and President of “Promise Keepers”

Ukrainian Street musician!  (I see my future!)

Randy & Cardinal manager, Mike Matheny

Warner - Matheny

I met Mike Matheny when he first joined the Cardinals at Spring Training in Florida in 2000.  He’s not only a great baseball mind, but a great guy and man of God!  Go Cards!

Coach Tommy Lasorda

He’s one of my favorites. I grew up in Los Angeles with the Dodgers when Tommy was their coach. He also brought us the Olympic baseball champions in 2000!

With Cardinal pitcher, Adam Wainwright

Not only is Adam a great baseball pitcher, he’s a wonderful man of God.  He recently shared his testimony at “Christian Day at the Ballpark” at Busch stadium and he shared how God sustained him during his time off with an arm injury.  He’s ready to come back strong this year!  (He’s the one on the right!)

Attorney General, John Ashcroft
My family and I have had the honor of knowing John Ashcroft for many years as our Lt. Governor, Governor, Senator and as our U.S. Attorney General. He’s a wonderful man of God and a man of integrity. I’m proud to know him! (Sharon , Randy & John Ashcroft)

 Legendary singer, B.J.Thomas

Here I am with my favorite singer!  I’ve enjoyed B.J.’s music since “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head.”  B.J. has a fantastic voice and Sharon and I had the chance to hear him live in St. Louis and meet him after the concert.  He’s truly a legend in the music world and he’s been a great musical influence on me!  Thanks B.J. !

Stan “the Man” Musial

The legendary Cardinal hall of famer,  Stan Musial was a regular at “Christmas at the Bucks” and around town. He’s always ready to play a tune on his harmonica! I had the privilege of working with him on a few occasions including his first harmonica recording on the CD, “A Cardinal Christmas.”  RIP Stan… You were the Man!

Randy & Justin sing at Busch with boxing promoter, Don King

Yes, that is boxing promoter and legend, Don King flying the flag as Randy & Justin Mayfield sing the National Anthem at Busch Stadium before the Cards/Mets game on May 18th.  To Randy’s right is middle-weight boxer, Cory Spinks who sang along with the boys!  He was pretty good!

Here the boys sing the anthem on Youtube at:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUFney95zTY

and for the 2006 playoffs at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLHbUk6bJ0w

The Wizard of Oz!

Truly one of the greats, a real gentleman and a Baseball Hall of Famer. Cardinal baseball great, Ozzie Smith!

Randy and Sharon outside of the Randy Mayfield Training Center in Honduras

Randy travels to Honduras each year to visit friend and missionary, Michael Miller, founder of The Micah Project, in Tegucigalpa. The Randy Mayfield Training Center is a part of that project, and is located in Villa Linda Miller.
