I’ve just returned from leading an awesome 12 day trip to Israel and the “Holy Land” with 40 folks from Central. We had a wonderful time visiting the Biblical sites. We sailed the Sea of Galilee, stepped into the River Jordon, drank from Jacob’s well in Samaria walked the streets where Jesus walked. Seeing all of these sites was really great and it helps one visualize the scriptures and where the Biblical stories took place. But the best part of our trip was not seeing the “Dead” archeological stones of Israel, but meeting the “Living” stones who walk the streets today.
We met Palestinian believers, Jewish background believers and Muslim background believers all who have given their lives to Jesus and are serving him in the present day Holy Land. We were even honored to have the Mayor of Bethlehem join us one evening to share that they need our prayers. He stated that Jesus was the only hope for peace in Israel.
Many of our friends shared how they never felt complete before they came to know Jesus. Several came to know Him through visions and dreams where Jesus appeared to them and told them to read his Word and to follow Him. They have done so but at great cost. Many have been shunned by family members, lost their friends and jobs and we even heard stories of some who had been martyred for the sake of the Gospel.
We were blessed and encouraged by all that we saw during our stays in Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jerusalem. I hope that we also encouraged our brothers and sisters who have remained behind to take the Gospel to all of the lost souls in Israel. Please join us in praying for them!
